8 New Benefits Under ObamaCare

Did you know your patients will have coverage for essential health benefits under ObamaCare?  These benefits will be covered at no cost or low cost.

Here are some of the items that will now be covered:

1) Mental Health Care

2) Prescription drugs

3)  Child Birth and Pregnancy

4) Addiction Treatment

5)  Immunizations, including flu shots

6) Colonoscopy Screening

7) Mammograms

8)  Autism Screening

These benefits are covered for patients signing up for ObamaCare.  For a list of all the benefits covered by the Affordable Care Act, click here

Some health plans not covering these benefits will be grandfathered for at least a year if the plan was in effect March 23, 2010.  The best way to determine if your patient has coverage for these “essential benefits” is to call their health plan.

If the patient purchased their health plan through one of the new healthcare exchanges and the health benefit is listed as an A or B by the US Preventive Task Force, the benefit will be provided to the patient at no cost.  The service still must be provided by an in-network doctor.
