The Detroit Medical Center (DMC) has been failing to maintain hospitals, according to the DMC’s watchdog.
The report by the Legacy DMC Board found that DMC is failing to invest enough to maintain its facilities. It also found a declining commitment to education.
The Legacy DMC Board’s findings took into account a variety of factors, including:
- The loss of accreditation of a training program for neurosurgeons,
- DMC’s decision not to hire 79 resident physicians, after announcing plans to do so, and
- DMC’s decision to ban Wayne State University faculty from working at DMC Children’s Hospital of Michigan.
If your practice is struggling to maintain facilities or uphold commitments, now is the time to revisit ongoing issues.
Make sure that you have processes in place to continuously check and upgrade equipment and facilities as necessary. Make sure your staff are properly trained to check equipment.
