With the rise in the use of telehealth and various technology interfaces, hacking is at an all-time high.

A recent example is an Indiana health system that saw a record number of cyberattack attempts last month.

Three hospitals in Indiana have had computer outages since August, due to ransomware attacks.

It is unique that a series of attacks has been launched in one region. Hospitals in the region are now on high alert and implementing additional protections.

How can you similarly protect your practice?

Ensure that all of your security updates are regularly performed. Is your risk assessment up-to-date? Do you have a current inventory of all devices? If not, now is the time to remedy your risk assessment and complete your inventory. Ensure that you have policies and procedures in place regarding your risk assessment.

Make sure that your firewall is sufficient. Check to see that your cyber insurance coverage is enough to cover any potential damages.

Test your breach procedures.

And make sure to thoroughly train your staff.
